running a b230ft in a 360
running a b230ft in a 360
as some will know im going to be doing the 2.3t conversion on my 360 soon, i know theres a few threads about this atm but my question isnt about the conversion and ive done a search but cant find the answer im looking for, im wondering what kind of brake and suspension setup people are useing? after market? or stuff of other volvos? if so what parts and what exact model? cant imagen the standard 360 stuff will be up to the job?
also while im here im looking for a solid flywheel not 100% sure of the one i need? but if you know and you have one i can use, let me know
cheers

Ths standard answer on brakes is the OE ones are fine in good condition with new fluid, you can high end grooved disks and race pads if you want.
The suspension is also generally 'OK' with uprated front springs and anti-roll bars. Some use assisters on the back (or 2 springs) and a rear anti-roll bar would be nice. Plenty of shocks available.
I'm just sticking with GLT height and uprated springs on the front of my B230FT saloon, monroe Gasmatic front shocks and KYB mono tubes on the rear, but not planning any race cornering. The GLTs where rather good factory fresh, ironing out the ropy worn out bits that have crept in over the years is the difficult bit.
Top spring plate and top bush are a bit of a weakness and have no well known AM solutions. Also rear radius arm adjustment is important for rear alignment, loose bushes aren't much good and don't have any available replacements except hand made standard rose jointed arms or something.
Classicswede does a few bits, polybushes springs shock etc.

Springs offer a big improvement in handling but best results are had with uprated dampers.
With the 360 turbo you will want extra stiff springs to take the extra weight.
Email with details of what the car is used for etc.

Re: running a b230ft in a 360
Well he is sort of outside the civilised world

Just a thought - given that your car had an M90, you'll need a solid flywheel from an early 940 (or very late 240 or 740) with the M46 (4spd+OD) or M47 (5 spd) box. I've also just discovered (the hard way) that not all 940 turbo pressure plates will fit in a 360 bellhousing...at least not without 'adjustment' to the inside of the bellhousing. The conventional wisdom was 360 disc with 940T plate, but we've gone all-360 for now...will worry about slip as and when it happens!
cheers
James
