Hi All
We have a 340 '84 with this Renix electronic ignition system that is vacuum controlled.
I suspect that the vacuum thing is broken as there is no differences when I unplug the vacuum hose and there is vacuum on it.
I question is.. are there a way to remove the electronic ignition system and just use the coil?
The car is almost done and we don't want to use any money on it as it should just run until next inspection/MOT comes up.
Thanks in advanced

Re: Disable Renix electronic ignition system?
you disconnect the vacuumhose, start the engine and let it idle; now raise the rpm's to around 2000rpm and hold it, now connect the vacuumhose and revs should rise; if it does that, it's ok.
Re: Disable Renix electronic ignition system?
The Renix units are very reliable, and fairly easy to get 2nd hand. Is there any actual symptom? If not the problem is just that it is difficult to test.
Also the coil will not work without something to switch it on and off, nevermind at the right time. You need the Renix, disable it and the engine will not work atall unless you retrofit a distributor with points.
