engine temperature

Post by tim-andre » 11 Jul 2012 09:10 pm

my engine temperature is to high, at least higher than i think it should
anyone know any reasons why? termostate or temp sensor maybe?
engine is b19a, does not use oil or coolant, the temperature does not rise and fall, goes up to a bit over halfway on the gauge and stays there
it was lower on the gauge on my b200k engined 360, thats why i wounder
i think im going to change the termostate, coolant and temp sensor anyway, the coolant needs to be changed anyway (its red, and what ive heard is that blue is better for my engine) the termostate isnt that expensive, and im changing the fan for two electrical ones so new temp sensors on the radiator and the engine because of that (taking the rad out of my mates b17 with temp sensor, if it does actually fit  )

Possibilities:

1. Thermostat - They are consumables, make sure you get the right temp rating
2. limited cooling ability - more likely if temperature is rising under load, silted radiator, water pump issues
3. Incorrect temp reading, due to electrical issues (eg incorrect reference voltage on panel, bad joints etc)

temp is staying at the same place even if im driving it hard, radiator is fine,
have not checked about the voltage, but everything else works as it should, will check that
kinda looks like the thermostat have to be changed then
