Can anyone please supply me with the part number for a starter motor for a Volvo 340DL 1988 1.4?

Whats wrong with it, they are not hard to overhaul. New bushes and brushes should be gettable for <£5, or failing that take it to a reconditioner, max £30 charge I expect. If the solenoid is sticky just grease it.

I managed to get the part number from my current starter motor; Paris-Rhone D9E66

Also, I went to a local shop that specializes in new and reconditioned starter motors and alternators to discover that they can supply me with a reconditioned one in exchange for my old one for £90!

The guy who runs the shop also told me that in his 30 years of business he's never heard of greasing a solenoid on a starter motor?!

Its all epic advice although it reminds me of the time I soldered new brushes into my failing alternator.... it worked well for a few months and then died on the motorway.

I've just managed to replace my old SM with one I got from a local scrapyard this morning. My car now starts fine but makes a very loud choking sound just after its ignited! I dont seem to be having much luck. Will wait until the replacement SM dies and then get a new one off ebay for £70...
