Removal of b200 engine mounts

Post by kelvingenders » 24 Dec 2013 12:45 pm

Hi guys, how can you tell if engine mounts on a B200 are knackered. Also, how can these be removed safely without dropping the engine on the floor? :360:

Its got a pretty strong sump so I have supported it on blocks of wood - I thinks it should be OK if you leave the bell-housing and torque tube attached, but others will know for sure.

I has done this 6 tines. Basically you should be able to get at least your finger tips between sump and cross member. If your sump is on your cross member and there's no gap, they are shot.

Removal.
I crack both nuts before I do anything else.
Jack sump up till jack takes some engine load, or till you see car move gently.
Undo nuts on Mount completely
Then I remove the top bracket and pull mounts straight out.

Exhaust side is harder as exhaust is in way. Top bracket does still come out but bottom brscket removal may be easier.
