low revs on 320 1.7

Post by arekpol » 24 Jun 2005 08:19 am

Hi,
I have a small problem with the revs on my 340. When the engine is cold the revs are about 500 and when I drive and press the clutch they tend to fall really low and the car starts to shake because the engine doesn't work steadily on such low revs, sometimes the engine dies. When the engine warms up it's fine and the revs stay at 900.
Anyone knows what might be the problem?

Arek.

Could be the adjustment on the choke cable. Near the end of it`s travel, the choke mechanism operates a cam that increases the idle speed a little. (fast idle)

If your choke is not closing fully when the knob is right out it may be that this mechanism may not be engaging.

It may also be that the mechanism itself may need adjusting.

to me its saying that the choke throttle control is not properly adjusted - this is what makes pulling the choke out operate the throttle a little.
