should breather pipes have jubilee clips ?

The redline (B172) has a breather hose going from a plastic pot stuck in the side of the block to a t piece that has one hose to the airfilter and one ( smaller ) to the carb base , the piece of hose from the plastic block to the t piece dos not have any jubilee clips on it , (it is shrouded in like a protective foam sleeve )should it have clips or should it be like mine , it is very easy to pull off at each end so I thought maybe it should be held by something

Mine doesn't have any clips either. But there is no pressure involved as it's just a breather to the air intake.

Doesnt need it mate, a lot of vacuum hose never do as they keep themselves on. Brake vacumm hose doesnt either mate coming from the intake manifold!!!

Breather pipes and vac hoses dont normaly have clips holding them on.

It is good not to have any hose clamps in breather pipe because if it would get clogged it can pop out when it doesn't have a clamp. If it has a clamp then it wouldn't pop out and the pressure would come out from somewhere else..

Yeah I found out that in hard way...

Though it was my own fault because I fitted new pipe which had allmost 90-degree bent fitting in it, which in time gathered some water and when cold weather came it froze.

Luckily I only drove some 100 to 200 meters and then noticed a lot of smoke coming out of tailpipe. Engine blew oil in to the exhaust side of the turbo because of the pressure in crank case. Nothing got broken though. Not even a one seal. Just needed good highway driving to burn that oil away from tailpipe after fixing the breather hose..

Lesson: It's best to have "free flowing" breather hose if you live in a country where temperatures drop below zero celsius degrees sometimes. So no water can gather in it. No bends in my breather hose anymore.

vacuum hoses should never be clipped because they will tend to leak if clamped...
