fuel pump relay location
Where is it located on an '86 360 GLE 2.0? Is it behind the dashboard? Cause, I had mine replaced the other day, and when I came back to pick up the car, I saw the indicator stalk had been broken?!
The guys at the garage swored they had nothing to do with that...didn't want to pay for the new one, though, but nevertheless, I don't like being lied to...

Hi Dusty,
On a 360 injection, the 'fuel pump' relay is incorperated in the system relay that also powers up the ECU. It's located in the engine bay between the air mass meter and the battery - the pic below shows it (it's item no.4).

(On carburettor cars the mechanical fuel pump has no relay.)
Sorry mate - if all your garage changed was the system relay there was no need for them to go behind the dash (assuming they knew where the relay was of course).
All the best - Mac.

Thanx guys, your quickness is amazing
Yes, I was convinced that they fumbled about it, because when I left the car, the stalk was ok and working! I did tow and leave the car overnight in front of their yard, and left the keys to the car in the ashtray, so that I don't have to go there towing early in the morning when the traffic is heavy, but it doesn't seem very likely that someone broke in on purpose, crushed the stalk and disappear
It wasn't actually the stalk that was broken, but the inside unit, the one with that little tooth that goes in and out as you turn the indicators on and off...the whole thing was just hanging lifelessly, and I guess I would have noticed had it happened the day before!
Anyway, it will remain a mystery, obviously...
Thanks for your help
Dusty

that piece of plastic has got to be one of the worst pieces of Volvo 300 design. A complete weak spot and for some reason the side that gets used more often, the indicator sides, they saw fit to make out of thinner plastic that the wiper side.
They break all the time and tbh its never anyones fault, they just snap and that's it. Luckily its not an expensive or difficult part to fix, about 15quids and all you do is remove the steering wheel and its all staring at you.
