fuel economy
It will not take much to get to the limits in the wet, the tyres really have no ability to shift water. Although, looking at the otherside of it, i found its also a good way to learn because since the limits are much lower you'll be going much slower and it will be much easier to correct. If you stick a decent set of tyres on straightaway it will stick to the road, but if you do get out of shape you will be doing it much faster and will probably not be able to do anything about it. But i'm sure you'll figure all this out on sunday

I found the set you're talking about while looking for the picture
Ah, so you're the Steve with the Skoda....a memory from deep inside my addled brain is surfacing...
Find an empty car park, and have a play! In my experience you need to watch out most for the back stepping out in long sweeping corners under power - where the speed is relatively high. You've gotta be a real dufus to stack it in 1st or 2nd. Of course it all happens slower in gentler corners, but the stakes are higher (plus you can't just nerf the brakes!).
Bear in mind that the mk2 GTI is only a 1.8....I was going on the press figures. The GTI is only a couple of tenths slower...probably down to gear ratios, but the GLT is (slightly) faster. I might be remembering incorrectly - the GLEi or GLi with the lower final drive ratio might actually be quicker, but I remember this from an advert - which was very much like the 'goes like a BMW, handles like a Porche' one.
I admit its odd, with the 8v being 112bhp and the GLT being 115, especially considering the weight difference...but I'm pretty certain that was it.
cheers
James

Well I'm still waiting for an email from the seller.. they might've sold already, and I think the website is pretty crap too.. we'll see! But shhhh
Yeah, 2nd Skoda actually.. I bought another one after having the first, pleasantly suprised, although I'm sure the 360 will be in a different league, exept for chuckability. I should be making a nice profit on it, as I'm selling it now. I've posted a few things on the VOC forum in the past, when I was thinking about a 360 late last year.
I also think them alloys are 14", would prefer 15"!

Get Cetus (15"), job done - they always look sweet! I can get them any day of the week for £50 a corner with good tyres. A lot less if you get lucky.
