volvo 360 B19A/E pics

Post by volvo300 » 22 Apr 2007 03:54 pm

Hi.

Does anyone have pics of a B19A/E engine from a 360?
It should be pics of 360's from about 1983 to 1984!
I know that from 1984, the engine was fitted with renix ignition and the viscous coupling fan that we know it from all the newer 360's!

The reason is, I'm in the process of making a overhaul on a B23E from a 240GLT, and I would like to use the viscous coupling fan from my 360 from 1987!

Thanks in advance.
Regards.
Peter

Hi Peter,

I'm not quite sure what you want to know, but my 84/85 (mk2) 360 GLT has a VC fan. As long as you use the 360 waterpump and 360 fan & coupling, you should be fine.

cheers

Hi James.

Thanks for the answer.
I have found out, that the waterpump I must use has the volvo part number: 3344253.
It fits B19A,B19E etc. from 1984, and has the same fitting for the VC fan as for the later B2xx waterpumps!

Hi Peter,

I've noticed before that B19 water pumps on eBay are also listed as being for 240s, etc. This worries, me, as they're supposed to be a different length! Just something you might like to check...

cheers

Hi James.

Yes, that's correct!
I have also seen that many other suppliers of Volvo waterpumps lists that the pump can be used on B19 for the 360 series!
AFAIK the first of the 360 with B19A and B19E (before '84) had a fixed fan bolted onto the waterpump, just like many early 240 series!
I have noticed, that there áre 3 different waterpumps for the 360!
The one from '81 - '83 (OEM # 270681), from 1984 (OEM # 3283043) and from '85 - '91 (OEM # 3344252)!
I have read in haynes (not all is true I know), that the VC-fan was added in 1984, and this confirmes that there must be 3 different types.
The first type, "270681" is the same as for the 240 series until 1984!
The two next numbers starts with the "32" number which indicates that it's a 300 series part!

I have found this info here:
- Volvo 240 catalog http://www.scantechsweden.com/../img/PD ... 975-93.pdf
- Volvo 340/360 catalog http://www.scantechsweden.com/../img/PD ... 976-91.pdf

I get it...the 2/7/900 series 'long' pump and pulley are used on the non-VC fans, as there's more space.

cheers

Hi Frits

I actually have a electric fan mounted from a 343 R-sport kit, but I would like to the right waterpump installed in case I have to install the VC fan! Just in case!
