What with the who now?

Post by DeKay » 28 Nov 2004 03:37 pm

Driving back from a weekend in leeds.

I stopped at traffic lights not far from home (<5miles) and as i accelerated away the car slumped back and then started rattling horribly in a metal against metal kind of way but very irregularly. Pulled in and called out the dadmobile to help.
We decided to limp it back with him following.
After a while the rattling went, but the car is now only firing on 3 cylinders...

Oil is fine
water is fine
Temperature is fine

I've gotta get the train back to brum :(

And it looks like I'm not gonna make it down on saturday hugh!

Started faultfinding. One plugs outer electrode bent to the centre electrode.Short cct. causing misfire camshaft appears to be working on the valves OK metalic knocking gone. This raises the questions. 1,what caused the knocking. 2,What bent the electrode. 3,Any more damage. A compression test is next. Could the cambelt have jumped a cog?
