Hey guys, just a quick question, this sounds like something ive started to experience, but i didnt get a big bang or anything just started to sound weird, i havent done anything to rectify the problem because it hasnt affected the way the car drives, just figured it was a sound. But just wanna know what damage if any will this do to the car if i leave it alone. as i dont have much time and money to get under the car and fix it.
Thanks for anyhelp.
Dan

is it a sound that you get when you push the clutch in? i.e. doesn't exist when the car is driving or in neutral with clutch up?

yea, im pretty sure this is the problem i have. as i have had a prop go before and it didnt sound like this. this is a vibrating sound which can be felt through the car when reving or idling with the clutch pedal relased. so i just wanna know wat problems could arise from leaving it alone.
Thanks Dan.

Broken stuff, potentially. If you've got a problem, fix it. Nessy supposedly did ~30k with the shaft bent, but given the noise it made, I'd be shocked if that's true...

It's not actually that much of a ballache. Probably the hardest part is having the right tools, and getting the exhaust off if it's nicely rusted up. If you're a bit of a ninja you might be able to leave the exhaust in-situ, but that's not going to make it easy.

I'm sure one of the Soton Mafia would help you for beer monies.

cheers

well.... mine vibrated the whole car, sounds like the same problem, i think that if the clutch shaft is bent it can damage the clutch but mine was fine, but i might just be lucky... isnt to hard to repair the hardest bit was gettin the shaft out from the bell housing, i just removed the circlips the bolted propshaft on to the clutch shaft and hit the propershaft with a hammer towards the back of the car and it came out.... eventually lol

Yea i had to replace the propshaft about 4 months ago, and it was such a pain to get off took me ages to get of and then when i came to put the new one back on it took even longer lol. i guess im going to have to get it fixed but being at uni im prob gonna have to leave it till the summer hols as i really dont have the time or the space to carry jobs under the car. Ill just have to take it easy until then, Also my mot is up soon so a bigger job may appear.
Thanks for all the help guys.
