what exactly DO you weld when you do this?
a link to another post will be fine - i assume this has been well covered elsewhere, but i cant find it yet...
JUST TO MAKE IT CLEAR IM NOT DOING THIS TO MINE i just want to know for knowledge purposes!!
My plan is to return my GLS to spanking new condition (over time) and probably swap the bits into a 3 door. Just so's you all know im not some scrapyard drifter trying to wreck another 360

Weld the spider gears, but you need a really decent welder to get good penetration (read: welds will hold) and also the gears will be oily so they need a really good clean to make any kind of decent weld. To put another myth to rest, you also still require oil in there after welding one.

haha yeah i would have thought so too...
wont be bothering with that anyway... if its 'anhilate the clutch when drifting' or 'ruining the rubber around carparks when parking' i think i'll take the cluch repairs, as i park my car a little more often than i drift it
