Re: Renix Earthing
Your car will certainly run on unleaded, I guess the question you're asking is "does it run on super unleaded (98 RON) or regular unleaded (95 RON)". You definitely don't need any lead-replacement additives or anything, it's just that pre '87 model year 340s were originally designed to use 96 RON leaded petrol.Bazboy wrote:I remember some talk at retro rides about earthing the renix to allow the car to run on unleaded
A different Renix may help though, check out this thread:

Whether it's a straight swap, or if you need to make any further adjustments, 'fraid I don't know.B14.4E = 412 (1987ish on) Retarded by 4 deg. to run on unleaded.

No, but early cars with too much advance will have issues running on 95. More octanes (thats almost grammatically correct) means you can have more advance. Advance without the octanes can lead to bad things. Dan, if you have an early renix, either run on super for moar powerz, or get a late renixkaos wrote:my b14.4e had no problem running on 98 ron superunleaded.

Dan get a close look at that Renix thread at the top of the forum. The info on what terminal to earth should be in there somewhere.
Hold on I'll see if I can find it.
Edit: its not there....hold on I have info somewhere
OK, the blurb says you have to "Earth the B-Terminal on the Renix, using part number 3209295, connecting the white terminal to a good earth"
That means that you have to connect the inner most terminal on the unused plug to a good earth. That will retard the ignition to enable you to run normal unleaded safely, but you will lose some power.
To retain your current power levels safely you can use Super Unleaded but of course that hurts your wallet.
