Hi all and thanks for all the replys.

I have installed a Megasquirt ECU, and now it runs fine over 60 mph.
I found out that it was to lean mixture that was the problem.

Now I have a new problem! It's my tach signal.
For those how has experience with megasquirt in a 360 with renix, from where have you taken the tach signal for the ECU.

I get my tach signal from the original Bosch connector and when i rev the engine over 3300 rpm's, the tach signal jumps around.

What have you done to make the signal steady and spike free?
I have jumped D8 and not installed the DAVE cap.
If I install the DAVE cap. the tach signal from the renix dies :(
I have also tried with a 1k, 10k and a 33k resistor in line with the tach signal. The 1k makes the tach signal jump around already at 3000 rpms, the 10k and the 33k kills the tach signal :(

What can I do?

Regards.
Peter

As far as I'm aware no-one has installed Megasquirt alone on a 360. I think Jani (JTBO?) installed full-on MSnS, bypassing Renix. The short answer is that I don't know, but try asking at www.msefi.com, or http://forums.turbobricks.com - the latter of which has its own 'aftermarket EMS' forum in 'performance'.

cheers

No, I have renix, took signal from grey wire that goes to rpm gauge, near connector to renix box. I have not got many spikes, I'm using ms-extra 25g6 code in fuel only mode.

Only problem is when I have rpm gauge connected, it's needle tends to live it's own life, no problem in Megasquirt though.

I have D8 installed but is bypassed with jumpwire. I have not changed any components from standard. Wire that I used for rpm signal is quite thick, even compared to original rpm wire.

Small speed there has been little problems, but this new ms-extra code and rpm based acceleration enrichment did sort almost all out.

1200-1000rpm there is slight problem still, that area starts to be so close to idle rpm that tuning is bit more challenging.

My settings and stuff for MS:

Hi Jani.

Thanks for the reply and for the MS files.

I will try the code that you use.
I will try it in the weekend.

Regards.

What temp sensors do you use? And do you have new maps made for them?

That msns-extra.s19 file from my link has custom sensor information, Volvo VDO temp sensor and NTC 33k temperature resistor for intake air temp. Sorry that there is info only in finnish, I'm bit lazy :P
Of course with Easy Therm it is quite easy to make new *.inc files for temp sensors.

Package from here needed so one can compile new *.s19 file with correct *.inc files:
http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/files/alpha/

My req-fuel is 16.8 and my fuel pressure is really problematic, 1-1,2bar only, so that could be that my fuel settings are quite off for others to use :(
Recently I lost 1bar of fuel pressure without explanation, I'm guessing that my fuel pressure regulator wen't bad for some reason.

I put clamp to fuel return line and got fuel pressure up to 4bar at idle and near 2bar at high rpm's. Needed that tweak as I wen't to race track, BMW with M-badge at trunk was same speed elsewhere but at braking and exit of corners it was faster, my one rearwheel pouring smoke was not very good for fast exits from corners :P
Also got brake fluid boiling and pads got overheated too, now extreme force is required for braking as brakes don't bite anymore, could be bearing lubrication gone liquid too, need to check at weekend ;)
Anyway brake calibers look bit blue... Damn BMW drivers :D

Failed to get video, user error :(
