On my last GLT I bought a Piper performance S/S back box and had some of the volvo system's bends cut off, I cant say it made the car go faster but It looked nicer and in my opinion sounded nicer, it wasnt like a Ricer or a 1.2 Nova with a cherry bomb it just sounded quite different.

On my new GLT i want to go one better. Since my whole exhaust system is either corroded, falling off and has holes in it il be getting a custom stainless 2inch system with twin back boxes made up. The cost will be high, around the £350 mark but well worth it, as it will look, sound, and a go a little better and after its fitted i shouldnt have any bother with it again, and even if I do, it will be covered under its lifetime ownership warranty.

Slight deviation.. but not too much. I just picked Kar up with new downpipe (as I can't lift the thing on my uni driveway) and its silly quiet, don't think its been like this since I've had it. So, no more meaty sounding 1.4 :( (more non desript Mondeo)

On the plus side, it seems to have cured the erratic idling, and no longer has any carb bogging, as well as just feeling more punchy (for lack of a good word). Now, I've had it feeling like this before, but only after making a sacrifice to the carb pixies, and turning idle/mixture screws.

What are the odds that the downpipe has cured this, have the garage been playing with a gas meter and my carb?
