If there is fuel in the oil, its the most likely place, I can't think anywhere else it could mix except from the carb providing too much fuel.arpi2390 wrote:So any ideas on the mechanical pump being the culprit here?
The engine is running really good now, haven't had any problems with the spark plugs but my consumption is horrible...given the leak because the engine isn't drinking more than it should.
I mean the engine might be drinking it only in the wrong place...![]()
I haven't driven it too much since I noticed that I have petrol in the oil but that kind of beats the purpose of a car, it should be driven...![]()

To eliminate breather problems, check there is low pressure in the crank case when the engine is running. Undo the oil filler cap but don't remove it, try to lift it gently and should find a slight resistance that stops suddenly when it separates from the valve cover. I can't see how fuel could get in the crank case via the breathers but they do connect to the carb area, and the above check is easy to do. The flame trap is in the y shaped connection under the manifold, that has a big pipe and a small pipe going into it, again pretty easy to remove and check, it the large part at the top of the black plastic oil seperator, circular and about 2cm in diameter.
