E-mail sent Pete, depending on when Will is free but I guess this weekend or next? I'm away for a month from 17th Feb though, so preferably before then.

Sorry about the rushed time. sm1

Hi Will,
Thanks for your offer of help, that would be excellent, providing pettaw is still interested and happy for Sunday 13th to be the day of removal and collection!

Pettaw, please email me or post a message to confirm and I'll sort you both some directions!

Yeah, seconded, thanks for your help Will.

Erm, so should I bring the 340 hatch or the 360 saloon?

Hi pettaw

I suspect that it may be easier to bring the hatch. I reckon the opening is larger and if it comes to it, it`s just four bolts to take the lid off giving us a bigger entry to the car. As I suggested before you might want to invest in a sheet of chipboard to protect the interior and some carpet or similar for padding.

What sort of time were you thinking of?

I'm fairly easy going on the time front, only trouble is at this time of year how long's the light good for?

Mid morning I guess?

Hi Guys,
Meant to reply earlier, sorry! I too suggest the hatch, as the seats can be folded down, and as Will says, a sheet of ply on the floor to protect it all should be fine. I'd also suggest bringing some decent nylon rope with you, as we can then tie this round the engine, put a decent piece of wood through the returned loops and between two of us remove it through the front of the car, I will hopefully have removed the bonnet and front of the car by then all being well!

Mid morning sounds good to me, I should have had time to get the bonnet etc removed. As promised I will email directions and maps to you both later, just got to go out for a while, so when I get back I'll send them.

Any idea on how long a simple removal and extraction should take with regards to light and finishing times?

We should be fine getting it out with a mid morning start - with 3 of us working around / under the car.

That said I`m an early riser and my mid morning is about 8:00 ;-)

About 10 sound OK?

Here are the pics from todays mini meet in Buckinghamshire, when Andy (pettaw) and Will wjp01908 came to remove the engine from my crashed 360 GLT to put into pettaw's 360 GLEi. If your'e interested the pictures are here http://www.farrell17.freeserve.co.uk/Pe ... Engine.htm
Also included is a small video of the loaded engine!
(sorry video had to be removed, I've run out of web hosting space!)

There were problems with a few rusty and siezed bolts, but the engine came out in the end. We removed the bonnet and my Dad cut through top front bar to allow us the take the engine out of the front, rather than over the side, as we were lifting it manually.

Once again, many thanks to Will, without your help I don't think we'd have done it! without you today!

Best of luck then Andy, I reckon you should have a nice running engine once you do the swap, keep us updated with the progress!

Pete
