Can I use 5W30 in a 1.4?

Will this be OK? - must I be very gentle with the engine with this "thin" oil?

It's FREE - so I want it.

If it IS too thin, can I add a bottle of STP and end up with a good-enough oil to last 5000 miles or so for the grand sum of £5?

^startpost question; yes you can. i wouldn't reccomend it for a B14 in hot climate though (outside temp above 30degrees)

It seems fine, its been in there a week, the whining sound from the engine has gone and I cant help noticing the extra horse or two from the thinner oil.

If it gets REALLY hot I will chuck in some stp
