Manual Choke Conversion

I'm going to look at a 340 tomorrow morning, only thing that is abit off-putting is that it has a manual choke. Does anyone know how to do a conversion so its no longer a manual but an automatic one?
Any info would be great

You are kidding?? Most automatic carb chokes wanted to be changed to manual ones due to unreliability in the 80s.
You will learn to use the choke and become at one with your engine in the cold.
If you want better starting get an injection.

Must be a kid, rather than kidding
*If* anyone wanted such a thing, it would be a great way of pouring petrol down the drain.

Ahh ok, my main reason to wanting to convert is that I do a lot of early morning and late night starts, and was told and auto choke would be better. I'll have to have a proper look into it then

There talking rubbish

Everytime i try and start my car takes me a while to get the choke and throttle in the right position. My dad can just jump in, pull, push, turn and its started

Just takes time to get used to, which i have to

Hmm ok, hopefully I'll be able to get used to it!

Don't listen to your mates! I do nightshifts as well as early day shifts (get up at 6am). Car is always cold when I come to it, you just get so much more sense of how warm the engine is. Brilliant, I love manual chokes!

Rubbish, certainly rubbish.
Manual choke is miles better any time and good thing is that it does not need to be perfectly adjusted to work well, where as auto choke causes ton of trouble if even bit off.
Using manual choke is really easy, pull it all out, start the motor, it usually helps to floor accelerator few times before cranking so that accelerator pump adds petrol to intake and engine starts up faster, when engine starts, push choke inwards just a bit, so that engine is not screaming but still running freely, when you drive you can feel car being bit sluggish, then push choke more inwards and car 'wakes up', you learn when you can push it fully in by observing temp gauge and with experimenting a bit, if it tries to stall or rocks back and forth you need to pull choke out a bit and if it does not want to go you push it in a bit, that is general idea, it is quite soon that you can push it fully in with 1.4 model, from my experience, it warms up so quick.
I have started mine at -10C and even bit colder here and with manual choke never had an issue, but I remember horrors of nissan and auto choke, it started up fine, but turned choke down too fast so car was running 2 and 3 cylinders until fully warmed up and there was nothing that one could do to it, either it was most of the time too rich or that when temp was -15C and below

k off. You cannot beat a 360 injection for starting. Always on the button even after 6 months standing, provided everything in good order of course and probably the high compression engines were the best. Even my 940 is not as good, stupid safety crap and small starter motor.
Never had a problem with the B200K (high comp), provided not sitting for too long, then it took a while to get the fuel back.
BTW starting process for carb:
Pump accelerator 2-3 times
Choke 1/4-1/2 out
Turn starter and stop after <1s (learn how long it takes to start, and expect it to start)
Small blip on the accelerator
Push choke in to tune to minimum to allow tick over

Only half? You and your warm climate
Electric fuel pump set so that it pumps when power is on or by switch is really nice improvement though, just let it pump float chamber full and start, no need to pump throttle
Injection models are then almost as good as diesel, which naturally owns startup contents hands down, -36C? No problem, just turn key and drive away

+1. Works perfectly this routine on my B200K.
May I add:
Leave idling obnoxiously until neighbours peer out windows at the noisy exhaust
Give neighbours thumbs up
Rev engine to 7K
Exit street sideways
Win at life.

Oi, you should not use more than 2/3rd of rpm range until oil has warmed up
