My 1.7 died the other week so I called on a 460 as an organ doner.
I had to swap loads of stuff over, if anyone wants any info on this conversion let me know.

I left it running for months with an air leak on the manifold wich eventualy caused a valve to burn out!! Should have sorted it before.
2.0ltr does push it along well had it off the spedo and that was before I set the fuel mixture!!

I had engine failure once with a B172, all valves went 'banana' because the guide roller of the distributor belt suddenly blocked.
before, I had fixed the same vacuum problem (nuts are too flimsy) wich cured the 'idling on 3 legs' problem.
after the engine failure I took of the cil.head. the cilinder that had had the vacuum leak, was totally burnt up and spotted. all the aluminum had become bubbly.
maybe i'll post a pic.

reading this topic again;
the 2nd and 3rd picture, is that the 2.0 litre engine from a 400 series???
looks exactly like the B172K to me ...
very interested to know what's different and what you needed to convert.
Greetings Wouter

All that is needed is to fit the B172 sump ang engine mounts, the flywheel and thrust bearing. You also need to swap the front pully. The problem is with the manifolds you could find one of the early injection manifolds and use all the fuel system or fit the 1.7 fuel pump and carb and ajust the fueling to suit. I did not have this problem as I had already gone to gas only. If you are fitting the carb manifold you will have to swap the manifold studs back to the 1.7 ones as they are shorter(this is what I did).
One other point is use the dip stick for the engine not the sump as the tubes are different lengths.
Hope this is of help
