cvt diesel

Post by hyperkv » 19 May 2012 10:39 am

Hello.
has anyone tried make diesel work with cvt? :)
i have no idea how it would or would not work out for me, i think of putting 2.0L diesel engine instead of 1,4 B14
from theoretical aspect i shouldn't be much of a difference as vacuum has both, but thinking of maybe if i should run diesel with same rpm's as gas- wouldn't it just kill engine?
maybe as 2.0L diesel would be more powerful, vacuum starts working at lower rpm's, because it has enough power to move that box :)

Well there's your main problem really.

Volvo's R&D did try however. The point is, you can't change that much in the variomatic gear ratios without compromising clutch life. Either way, you'd end up with a diesel with a top speed of 60 mph
