Ignition Unit 340 dl 1.4

Post by GilbertFalkner » 04 Jun 2004 06:46 pm

Hello
I bought a 1987 340 dl two weeks ago. its my first car, so iam not really experienced with the technic of a car. I thought 200 euro is a good price for a relatively good car (only 123.000 km) and if it will break i wont worry about the price.
The car worked fine for about 2 weeks. Today in the morning, the car stalled at an intersection. The breakdown service said that the Ignition Unit is broken so i cant satrt no more....
I hope you can understand my feelings, iam truly sad. When i was twelve i always said, that i want a volvo and now i have one that doesnt drive.
Can you give me some tips where i should look around for such an unit?
Or maybe you know a trick how to get this car running again...
Please Help!

find a 340 in your local scrap heap

steal the renix

swap it for yours

your done :)

get a haynes manual (or similar) if you dont know what it is, it should be just inside the lefthand side of the engine bay

ok, look at this

i dont think its the right engine for yours, but if you imagine thats your engine bay, the reenix (ignition timer) is just below the suspension strut..

Renix/Bendix is written on it.
i hope i'll get this part at a local scrapeyard.
do you have any idea what a used renix/ bendix would cost?

Yeah, about £20 sounds right....although last time I checked they cost £300 new!

*Make sure* you get one from a car with the same engine as yours (a 1.4 I guess?), as they are different.

cheers,

Hello,

My Renix ignition module also died, luckily just 50 meters from my home.

I would like to know if the module is the same for B200K and B200E. There's a 85 B200E in a scrap yard near me and I have 87 B200K. Will it fit?

thanks.

I don't think it's the same module. It's a different part number for the B200E and B200K in my Volvo documentation...

Thank you for this diagram, Duvel. What is the difference between the first two units on the list (1367070 & 3210529) - they are both for B200K. Does the documentation say anything?

It turned out that some contacts near the connectors broke. An auto-electrician resoldered them so right now it's working but I don't know how long it's gonna last. It wouldn't hurt to have a spare unit, so how much would you charge for it? Thanks for the offer anyway!

Unit number 1367070-8 applies to cars with chassis number up to 240999.
Unit number 3210529-8 applies to cars with chassis number 241000 and on.
As your 360 is a 1987 model, it automatically needs unit number 3210529-8
I will contact my Volvo dealer to find out the link between this unit number
and the Renix number that is on the ignition unit.

Maybe you can check yours already.
The Renix number on the unit is:
S100860-406
A 204516
Renix 8424
