Hey together,

can anybody explain, why the engine of my 1,4l vario sometimes stops when I switch from P to R (Sometimes from N to D, too)?
Although I pull the gas pedal the engine turns off.

The vacuum system is already tested and ok.

Thanks ans best regards

Matthias

Hi

Mine does this too sometimes. All vacuum hoses good on mine and carb serviced and it still does it especially when its cold.

The only thing I can immediately think of is that when you move the gear lever, you activate the clutch disengage servo which will apply load to the "pressure" plate (and hence the engine).

Also if there is any air leakage on the disengage servo, pipe work, or switch (vacuum switch) air will be drawn into the manifold - weakening the mixture to a greater or lesser extent. This might well be enough to "stall" the engine.

One othe point - if the clutch is incorrectly adjusted (shims) the "idle" might at, or below, engagement speed and the selection of a gear, especially from N will add a degree of transmission drag - if the idle mixture and speed are not correct - again you might stall.

Mac.
