360 Tank strap studs

I seem to have forgotten about the little studs that stick out of the tank straps that hold up the exhaust shield. Originals gone and rusted to oblivion a long time ago, along with the straps. I had one new strap and made another.

Anyone know what these look like, how they are attached, how the nuts are tightened? Diagram looks like they are round and there is no chance to get a spanner in. Are they oval on the shaft in the strap slot to stop rotation or something?

You mean no 13?

Maybe RJ could find a photograph of 3270243? Or the Boltaholic might know?

My guess is that is just a self-clinching stud.

While we're talking about this exhaust shield / protection plate / hitteschild, there appears to be two different ones depending on whether the car in question has a fuel pump mounted to it or on the engine block.

Yeah its where the injection pump is mounted, has some extra cutouts for rubber mounts, but its mainly the same.

What's a self-clinching stud?

Man, I think its a bolt with a square cross-section at the base of the thread {^_^}

It allows you to do up the nut while the head of the bolt is held tightly in a slot in the petrol tank strap.

Bogbasic, you're thinking of coach bolts.

Spot on, in fact I think I used a sawn-off coach bolt for this purpose {^¿^}

I've worn google out, they want to charge me now lol

Actually I'm fed up with lack of information sometimes. Most external Bosch injections pumps use 12mm feed for reasons we know, but where are the prepump filters!! Anyway there are a few, but the first one I bought has to be returned grr.

Anyway I've answered enough stupid questions on this site.
