Hello,
I have make a propshaft upgrade for my Volvo 340, I know most people have problems whit standar propshaft and I like to show my new system, I don´t move the car whit this propshaft, but this week I am goint to probe it.
If you want to know anymore:
Sorry for my poor english.
Best regards, Rubén.

Looks good. What is the total mass of the new prop? I'd be very interested to hear how it feels when you change to a lower gear.

Excellent effort to solve a growing problem - but as Chris is suggesting the synchro cones may have a problem controlling the additional mass - it will be interesting to hear further.
Don't be concerned about your English - most of us barely speak any language including our own!

The rubber damper coupling is a neat idea, and the fact that it is of relatively small diameter tube makes me think it's well worth a try. I'm looking forward to hearing about results!

It is something I had considered years ago using the 240 rubber couplings.
Worth a try anyway and will be nice to see how it turns out

I have a problem whit the propshaft, it doesn´t work as well as I need.
I think I have to change a coupling to make it sliding and correct the axial movement of engine and gearbox. When I make it I will refresh the post.
Best regards, Rubén.

If there is any degree of axial play (or radial for that matter) it suggests a problem with the engine or transmission mounts.
With the transmission effectively "solidly" mounted any movement allowed by engine mounts in good order should easily be accommodated by the disc couplings.
What is the actual problem you are experiencing??
Mac.

They aren´t solidy mounted, they have the rubber play and the disc couplings accept lees axial movement that standar transmision, I think.

Is the problem with static reving or under acceleration?
I think the original couplings are pretty rigid, the usual problems with this sort of replacement is the difference in weight, balance and preciseness of the centerings. Also your mounts condition is critical in the original setup, never mind with a less precise shaft.

do your probshaft slide easely front to back with your hand ?
if no't , maybe your engine monut is dead or your homemade probshaft is not properly manufacture (perhaps an offset some minimeter in welds or other)
if it's good , your gearbox and motor are aligned tone

Hello,
New transmisión parts was laser cut, welded by a professional and aligment whit 0,1 mm precision.
When I probe the car I have broken the bellhousing when I make pedal to the metal.
Satandar prop accept a little axial displacement, but this can't accept it, because it makes top if you want to compress it.
I think I have a solution making a sliding couple as a bmw or a 4x4.
Best regards, Rubén

Bell housing failure suggests major misalignment of engine (usually very soft or collapsed mounts) - with a "stiffer" front prop couple this will throw a high bending moment on the clutch shaft and hence bell housing. Excessive movement will also result from collapsed mounts.
The other possibility is a high energy primary or harmonic imbalance exciting the prop forward joint/clutch shaft rear bearing.
Mac.
