rear silencer

I have the rear silencer off my 360 atm to do chassis rust repairs and it is loud, normally I would have been fine with it but I drove it up the road and it drones a lot and is more than likely illegally loud. So it is clear to me the rear silencer quietens it so much it must be very restrictive, does anyone have any suggestions as to what silencer to fit that will optimise performance and keep it legal but still sound better than standard... Not after much really

Not sure theres such a thing as 'illegally loud'. Theres definitely 'anti socially loud', 'you cant come on our race track with that exhaust-loud' and 'garuanteed to induce headaches-loud' though. MOT stations dont have decibel-o-meters as far as im aware

The B2xx are all pretty quiet in comparision to the 1.4 for example. (without a full silencer).

Anyway a pipe or straight through box will dump the noise out the back rather than under the car. I think the difference is loops/bends inside, you can see through a straight through silencer.

If you goto a custom exhaust place they will provide something to your taste if you describe what you want.

Noise rules here (N.I.) are that the car must not be louder than when manufacturered.

I forgot they don't test noise levels at the MOT, I should know we have been carrying out pretend MOTs at college. In New Zealand they test the noise level for the WOF and I think it would be 91 decibels for the 360 due to the age.

Thanks Ride-On that makes sense, there are two exhaust places within walking distance so I will have a walk down and talk to them... Drop my CV off too haha.
