Exhausting work... (Centre and Rear exhaust parts)

My 360 will need it's centre and rear exhaust parts replacing for the MOT. I think I have a centre section already, but I'm having trouble identifying the rear box on various car part websites and eBay. Does anyone have the Volvo OEM Part numbers? The car is a hatchback 1989 360 GLT B200E with PAS.

There are various parts listed on this site:
http://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/spare-p ... /2820.html

Can anyone tell whether they'd fit? The site says that the Bosal Part 280-995 is for the B19E engine only (presumably the straight through silencer type without the weird bend on later cars), but other websites show this to be the same style as the later cars. I'd ideally prefer to get a Bosal or Walker part if possible due to fitment issues I've seen with Klarius parts.

Brilliant - thanks Mac! That'll help a great deal, I should be able to identify the existing centre section I have too. :360:

Turns out it was a rear section that I already had... (Arvin Replacement Products 280-995)... Google suggests that Arvin ended up merging with Bosal, so presumably it's the same part.

Unfortunately the part is the same for both the hatch and saloon, which is a bit annoying as the tailpipe will look like it exits a bit strangely on a hatch, but oh well. Ordered a 283-933 to go with it via the bay of E's. :)

Never straight forward is it.... the company I ordered the 283-933 Bosal centre section from look as though they're not going to deliver the item (or indeed reply to my enquiries via eBay) - I expect this to only be resolved by dispute, classic.

Does anyone know of a Bosal supplier that can deliver?! I get the impression that there aren't many of these parts left.

I have a Bosal supplier in Soton and will be at Gaydon at the weekend.

Use that information as you will.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get through to Chris's supplier, although having tried local motor factors I think there's a distinct lack of Bosal middle sections. Does anyone have any experience with the Skandix parts? I'm loathe to entertain any of the Klarius sections after seeing that some are 'short' - as Bogbasic found when he ordered one - the section infront of the silencer which connects to the downpipe is too short(!), not to mention the torque tube bracket mounts seem to be in the wrong place.

Are these parts especially cheap? While OE parts are NLA, the parts prices compare well with a custom fitted stainless system. I'd guess £250 would sort it. I'm about to get this done on my Turbo so will see what it costs, although I need a down pipe aswell. The 940 was just over 500 with downpipe and cat.

As CBA pointed out, the short ones can be extended with a de-cat pipe and that is my back-up plan if I can't live with the bodged Klarius centre-section on mine any more, which seems to knock on startup. The advantage of the short ones is that they seem to have the right fitting for the bolts onto the bracket. I could also make a new hanger for the Klarius - its just that cutting and drilling sheet metal which taxes my patience a bit ;-0 Actually, decision made - I will do that if the knock continues....

The parts aren't especially cheap (circa £60-70 for a centre section) - but the bonus is I already have a new rear section, so it's probably more like £60-70 vs £250. Certainly have considered a stainless downpipe back system but I'm in a but of a hurry to get the GLT MOT'd and I should really be spending the time on the GLS

Ended up buying the centre section from Scandix, seems to fit correctly - they also sell the 3x plate style mounting brackets that fit on the bracket off the torque tube. Combined with the Bosal back box we have a non-blowing system again - forgot how quiet it is usually

That's a good piece of info, thanks Steve! Do you know which manufacturer they used?

Cheers

Tom

I'm not actually sure who manufactured it, but actually looking more closely it still doesn't fit correctly. Either the torque tube mounts have been welded onto the silencer wonky or the pipe that comes out of the silencer is at the wrong angle as it sits too low on one side. :| sm2
