360 GLT Renix Issues

Hi guys,

I've got a 1986 360 GLT that's been giving me some issues. I've narrowed it down to the renix ignition system (re 405) which is well and truely cooked. Would anyone know where I could source a replacement or a possible aftermarket solution? I live in Australia where Volvo 360 parts are few and far between so I've had no luck finding something to match.

Also, if anyone has a spare one laying around then I'd be happy to pay postage!

Cheers,
Daniel

dai at classic swede should be able to help. The renix units have different characteristics but are similar enough to interchange. There are some detailed threads on this if you search. Ebay can help too and you may be able to replace just the coil if its the faulty part of the system.

Cheers for the replies. I read though a few forums about interchanging Renix units and it seemed to be that they all have different mapping and so it wouldn't be a good idea to use anything but the original model. It is definitely the unit itself though, I have tested the coil, crank angle sensor, and all of the connections. The unit just doesn't have the ability to switch the coil.

I'd be interested to see how a different Renix unit would change the running of the car though so it's worth a shot if I can track one down!
