1.4 to 1.7
yeah will drop in - maybe need a different clutch - but as has been said, i'd just drop a 1.7 turbo in?

As has often been said here, there's a bit more torque with the 1.7, but otherwise the gains aren't all that great. I certainly wouldn't go to the effort of swapping them over.
Turbo or 2l is the way to go
Actually, I couldn't do an engine swap if I wanted to as I'm totally mechanically inept! However, I have owned 1.4l and 1.7l 340s. I prefer the 1.7, but there is not a lot in it.
[edit] Could do worse than redlines 360 GLE. That's already got a 2l in it and only £100
