As far as I know it will and the drivetrain is the same (think the bellhousing is different) but theres not really any point in doing it for the small power gain, you'd be better swapping to something like Dai's got the 2L from a 400 series,
cheers

yeah will drop in - maybe need a different clutch - but as has been said, i'd just drop a 1.7 turbo in?

yes i have put a 1.7 in place of the 1.4...you will need the 1.7 bellhousing and nsr engine mounting bracket
its still not enough power for me although you do get a bit more torque but i will soon be swapping it over for a 2ltr
but then you have to watch the propshaft
good luck anyway

As has often been said here, there's a bit more torque with the 1.7, but otherwise the gains aren't all that great. I certainly wouldn't go to the effort of swapping them over.

Turbo or 2l is the way to go

Actually, I couldn't do an engine swap if I wanted to as I'm totally mechanically inept! However, I have owned 1.4l and 1.7l 340s. I prefer the 1.7, but there is not a lot in it.

[edit] Could do worse than redlines 360 GLE. That's already got a 2l in it and only £100 :D
