I'd imagine so - the 1.7 is the same basic block as the 1.7 340. Though you'll run into the usual difficulties with the higher power and turbo versions.

It's spelt Renault :-P

Are we talking about the 21 Turbo? I don't know regarding fitment, but I can definitely tell you that it's not the same engine as the F2n family in the Volvos. I think a Renault 21 Turbo is the one French car I'd seriously consider owning. Rare, pimp, and...er...more pimp.

I almost bought one of them (R21 Turbo) when I was in uni. Would have been very stupid if I did, but what a nutty car!! Its actually on my list for my next car along with a few other over powered eighties/nineties cars :)

Yes, they are indeed pretty tasty.

As part of the original post - what Renault 21 engine were you precisely thinking of - there are a few?

As far as I'm aware, it's not a bolt-in. I'd stick to the 400 series turbo lump.
