Gunk in the Drink

Post by Vart » 16 Apr 2006 03:51 pm

after seeing steam rising from the front one afternoon i investigated the cause to find a wet line along the bottom of the radiator. hole somewhere thought i. however the coolant tank was bubbling slightly and upon investigation it was full of mayonaise esque gunk. head gasket?? could oil in the radiator cause it to steam as well?

any ideas?

cheers

Doesn't sound good (obviously)

You are almost definitely right about the head gasket. Oil in the cooling will gum up your radiator and cause all sorts of problems, but obviously the real problem is water in the oil!!!

If you're attached to the car then a new engine is probably the easiest way to go. A new car may be even simpler...

don't much like the car to be honest. how long will it go for as the problem is recent? theres 6 months of tax and insurance left. that long?

It's ready for catastrophic failure any moment now - don't drive it
