exhaust on a 360
exhaust on a 360
howdy folks!
ive got a volvo 360 gle 2.0l the previous owner put (i think) a stainless exaust on it. but it bangs on the leaf springs and its wearing the exhaust away. it jus looks like the silencer is to big or the U-bend is to wide. its geting on my nerves wen im taking drunken students about so any ideas??

ps ive checked the rubbers and there fine, the mounting brackets etc all apear fine

Yeah, I think you're right. Carl called over the other day and one of the rubber exhaust donuts on the rear section was missing, causing it to hang low and hit the leaf spring hanger, but replacing the rubber as it was the n/s one made it worse and pulled it tight onto the hanger. We think because it was hanging for long enough with out it, it's twisted it round, so yeah, get a new clamp, as the old one will probably be rusty, and free it and twist it round so it hangs right.
Sounds like someone spent some money on the car before you and looked after it to get a stainless system, might be a VOC one. I've yet to carefully look at the one on one of my cars.

yea some one has spent a fair bit on it, its had been in his family since new, the daily runner to the shops basically, but ive had no problems with it except the feckin braided cloth fuel pipes near the carb.

All 300's are shocking with exhausts if you don't properly line them up! Twisting the back box usually cures it on 340's and 360's
