My 360s gearbox seems to have an oil leak
Was like it by halfway home when i bought it (it leaves oil splatters on the rear bumper n bootlid), so i suspect it was just cleaned before i bought it and its been leaking for a while
No idea where abouts its coing from though, is there a place on the box that often leaks? Im hoping i can use some sealant to cure this hopefully minor leak...
Also gonna need some welding to the chassis rail to pass the MOT, and a wing, fantastic...

Its the diff that's leaking, 90% sure of that. The thread on gaskets shows you how common this is and why we're so annoyed that Volvo aren't making them anymore

I'm afraid that sealant won't help, mine leaks around drain plug a bit, also somewhere from right side, never seen up there enough well.
There is large metal shield below transmission, when you take that out you can see leaks better.
Could be also differential leaking from driveshaft seals, see if driveshaft differential ends are wet.

Nope, its not the diff leaking, im 2067% sure of that
And we had the diff cover off and removed the knackered gasket and replaced with normal sealant anyhow.
Its from further back, on the gearbox. But as it seems to kinda be spraying everywhere i cant see where the hell its coming from even with no shield in the way

Its simple enough to tell. These manual gearboxes should be filled with ATF, (some have been refilled with gear oil, if you have one of these, beware, cos its the wrong oil and the gearbox will fail) so if its the gearbox then it'll be a nice red colour.
If not and the gearbox has got the correct fluid then its from the rear diff. If could well be from the driveshaft seals as Jani says, but its much more commonly from the rear seal.

as what i said just a mo ago, its 234784578958% not the rear diff, the leak is from much further along, on the gearbox.
cant remember the colour tho, best check...

Well the diff is favourite in 95% of cases, but there are other seals, and they do fail....so all things are possible. Time for a good degreasing so you can see what the hell is going on, perhaps?

Actually synthetic motor oil does work better in summer use, well you don't even get winter so should work around a year, also it is mentioned as alternative to ATF.
I know that few uses motor oil without problems and box is less noisy too, even James keep telling how on turbobricks guys have destroyed their boxes using motor oil, but can't tell final truth. At least it is not leaking as bad with such
There is not many places, shaft that propeller shaft is connected, then seal between diff and box, plugs, what else? Yes, there can be hole in casing, but usually box is dead after that.

There's also a gasket on the input shaft end-plate...but yeah, not many places.
