Changing the water pump on 360 from 85 with B19??
Can anyone give me a link or tell me how this is done the right way. Have loosend the alternator, taken of the cam belt cover, but do not seem to be able to reach the bolts keeping the pump in place.
If you haven't got a Haynes manual, get one. They're very useful, although do have some mistakes. here's what it says for the B19 and B200
Remove radiator
Looser alternator mounting and adjustment bolts, push alternator towards engine and remove drive belts
Unbolt fan and pulley and remove timing belt outer cover
Unscrew the engine shock absorber top mounting bolt, also unbolt the bracket top mounting bolts, remove the bushes and move the bracket to one side
Disconnect the radiator hose and the return water pipe. Remove the bolts securing the pump and remove the pump
Hope that helps

I have no idea what was meant by that reference to the shock absorber.
Just a few notes to add...
Make sure you clean all the surfaces very well - especially the one on the head. Get a mirror and look. Get a flat ruler and measure. It is probably corroded, and you'll need to chisel away the build-up. I learned this the hard way, and even needed Andy to point out my error!
Don't do the bolts up too tight. They are very easy to snap. Use a 1/4" ratchet, at the most.
cheers

Before 360 got the hydraulic engine mounts, 360 had rubber type mounts and a shock absorber for the engine bolted on to the front beam. Engine was also hanging from those rubber type mounts, though they aren't normal sandwich type mounts, even if the rubber would've failed, engine wouldn't have fallen on the road.foggyjames wrote:I have no idea what was meant by that reference to the shock absorber.
