i had a thought about putting a single bike carb(40mm) on a moded 1.7 manifold,
would it be possible and would there be a power increase?
1.7i project fell though
Cheers

I doubt you will get any power increase with a single carb. If you had a manifold made to take two then I can see a possible flow improvment.
Whats gone wrong with the 1.7i Project? I may have soem of the bits you need.

For what it's worth wouldnt you be better off getting a full bank of four and have a custom fannimold made up by somebody like Boggbros?
There cheap enough anyway. Unless your working on a specific budget??

cheap as poss

my dad basically told me not to touch my engine unless it blows up...... coz i was going to fi it got the engine and found the head was warped and the bodie was worn out,
thinking 1.8spi from laguna again now.. just waiting for my engine to give it up
problem its solid as a rock hence the bike carb idea to solve the fueling problem.
specs of 1.8spi not bad... on fuel econ.

I had a 2.0 laguna and it went quite well for a big lump of france. Probably the same block as the 1.8 and there should be no price difference by now. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Drain the oil out - rev it to f**k, and then when it blows up you can shout "Dad! I need a new engine..."

Why not close up a couple of the plugs and put some oil in the petrol - that will make the engine seem buggered without actualy killing it!

You need the early 440 injection inlet manifold or a carb.
The normaly 440 manifold could be used but the heater box would have to removed to make it work.

Why not swap the EFI parts onto the existing engine? If you can't swap engines, I'd either go EFI, bigger downdraft carb, or venturi-per-pot carbs like DCOEs or the bike carbs.
cheers
