Hi guys
I recently bought my first 360 (thanks Foggy and Chesh

) and have a really simple question.
It's a C reg with a 404 renix so would this therefore need 98 octane as it was originally designed to run on 4 star?
cheers!!

My 85 has ran for 3 yrs on Morrisons unleaded without problem and I would hardly think that's a high grade fuel.
Before a road rally a while back treat it to a few tanks of Shell super unleaded only difference I noticed was in me wallet.

Hi Shimon!
Good to see the GLE SE went to a good home
What's the compression ratio on your car?
foggyjames wrote:Ignore whether it's a B200K or B200E. The compression was lowered for all versions of the B200 from 10:1 to 9.2:1 in 1987 (I think).
10:1 cars need to run 97+ octane to avoid light pinging. That may be what you're experiencing. It'll not make much difference overnight, but the pre-ignition will nibble at your headgasket over time, and the extra heat won't be appriciated either.
EDIT: Those early low-comp figures could be specs for another market. Volvo made the ultra-low compression "camel piss spec" B17 (1.7 redblock) for sale in African markets, which at the time has some very poor quality petrol. Here, at least, they were all 10:1 up to 86/87.

I'd imagine it'll be the high compression 10:1
