Are throttle cables hard to obtain

Post by Ian Hutchinson » 13 Jan 2008 11:22 pm

Evening all,

I have heard that 300 series spares are becoming hard to get a hold of - a link to this site has been posted on the VOC forum - I see that they have a number of 340/360 parts including throttle cables.

http://www.myvolvoshop.com/advanced_sea ... &x=13&y=12

Can anyone tell me - how hard are throttle cables to get a hold of and Is this a reasonable price?

hi there

I bought one 2 years ago for my 343 1.4 and paid volvo £21 for it so I'd say this website is good with prices at £20. I think these are now discontinued parts from volvo but there are manty companies out there making cables for classic cars. IMO the tough bit for the 340 is the rubber section which slides in the holder at the rear of the engine. However, it's out of site once the airfilter is in place I think so any mods wont be visible afterwards
Enjoy your 300s

Come to think about it there is a small chance I'll have some new 1.4 ones. I'll try and look this weekend.

Yes, good find. :)

It seems the AA mans bodge will be fine, but it'd be worth getting one if they do still stock them, although there's no stock status thing, so they could be out. It says 'Original Volvo equipment', so unless they have a large stock left, they won't be able to get them.

Why oh why must Volvo scrap all our parts. I was reading in Practical Classics a week or two back about an Old Merc, and I think it said that if you needed a discontinued part for any model Mercedes, the factory would make a new one for you! Now that's service!

Volvo Sweden will source some of the harder to get 240 trim - the guy at Braydons contacted them on my behalf and they said that they would have a new rear valance for my GLT made up - as long as I didnt mind waiting 6 to 8 months! At least they would do it I suppose. Shame they dont appear to support 300's in this way..............................

It seems we're the poor relations, the black sheep of the volvo family.
