Bottom Radiator Hose - current part number please.

Post by Figgy » 04 Jul 2008 12:48 pm

I have a credit at the volvo dealer, so thought I'd get a set of radiator hose for the 1985 2 litre 360 glt hatch....I've been able to order the top hoses, but the bottom hose - part number 3203164 - is no longer valid on the dealers system.

Does anyone have the current volvo part number for this hose?

Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid 3203164-3 is the correct Volvo part number for the bottom radiator hose, leading to the waterpump (B19/B200 engine). I'm (pleasantly) surprised actually, that Volvo still do the top ones (leading to the thermostat).

I've managed to find a UK company which has replacements for both top (non-A/C) and bottom hoses, but I don't know whether they post to Australia ...

BTW: was that a set of A/C top hoses you ordered? They're different from the non-A/C one as there's a temp transmitter screwed in between them.

Thanks for the reply Tom, I'm sure the hoses I've ordered are for the radiator, I had a look at the dealers computer and pointed them out to him on the expanded view, they're the ones that lead to a T-shaped pipe with a temp sender in the middle of the T pipe...I've told the dealer that I will ring to confirm the order and *hopefully* be able to give him a current number for the bottom hose. There's no -3 on the end of the number he gave me, so maybe that makes a difference?

Yes that sounds very much like the A/C version. The non A/C cars don't have the T-shaped pipe and the single top hose goes straight to the thermostat.

When he said it'd "expired", more than likely he just means the part is no longer available. But you might as well try with the "-3" as well.

Ah good, it sounds like I've got the correct hoses for the top then, now to track down something for the bottom. I don't think it will be too hard though it's just a pipe with a 90 degree bend. Just wanted to use up all of the credit with the dealer.

The parts nos for the top hoses (A/C version) should be 3244227-9 and 3244278-7, either side of the T-piece. If you've got more credit to blow on radiator hoses, theres also a hose which goes to the expansion tank (3285036-4 on A/C cars).

No probs! I had all the info copied out already, as I bought one of the A/C top hoses on Ebay the other week. Maybe one day I'll have A/C too

I'd be really lost if it wasn't for this web site and enthusiasts like yourself, willing to help us newbies out. Thanks once again, I'm off to bed it's nearly midnight here and getting a bit cool.

Cheers!
Anne.

Oh dear, I've just had a look at the bottom hose, it's not quite a straight hose with a 90 degree bend in it, so might be harder to source.

What is everyone else using for the bottom hose?
Is there a hose from another model (any type of vehicle, not necessarily a volvo) that does the job?

Just an update on this, I emailed them several days ago asking for a quote and haven't heard back. So maybe they're not such a good source for cooling hoses then ...

I've been hunting around over here too, looks like I go get a flexible hose or go to a specialist and get one made/find one that's got the right bends in it and use that. Bit of a bugger really.

...on a good note the other 3 hoses arrived today, direct from Volvo. :D

I found a place over here that specialises in hoses, and could sell me corners and straights to make up ones that weren't available, meant I didn't have to have a flexi hose.

I'm not sure if we do either Chris, but I'll keep searching and let you all know how I get on.

It's such a shame there's no hose from another model that's compatible. Can't win 'em all though.

Cheers all!
