A lot of problems - B200K

Post by 360GL » 08 Mar 2004 09:26 pm

Hello,
I sent my car to a body shop to have the rust repaired and it's been sitting in their parking lot
for about 14 days, it's now waiting for a paint job. Let me say that I NEVER had ANY
problems with the engine, it always started up instantly even when it was -25 deg. C. It always
ran fine. After beeing parked for 14 days it didn't want to start anymore. I replaced the spark
plugs and it started. But it won't run without choke even when engine is hot (at operating
temperature). It just dies when I turn off the choke. And there is white smoke coming from the
engine, right from the area around where the cylinder head and the block meet.
I will take it to a mechanic, but how can an engine become so screwed up just from not being
used? Do I have a blown head gasket? Compression loss? With a B200 engine? You must be
kidding me. The car has only 230.000 km.
I try to never be angry with my car, but this is it, I want to kick its ass.
Sorry, I just had to tell someone how angry I am.

head gasket

have seen blown head gaskets on 360-s with
B200K-s several times. have done this job for a friend. it is not a major fault. coolant changes
not done etc..many faults are seen after a timeout. :360:

Just to let you know, all problems have now misteriously disappeared. I've done an engine tune-up, replaced plugs, wires, rotor, cap, filters, oil, some hoses, also done some maintenance work, including timing belt & tensioner and the engine runs like a dream. Anyway, if head gasket will need to be changed in the future, I will just do it myself, now I'm armed with literature and have some experience and tools & place to work.

Rust is repaired, shock absorbers will be replaced in the next few days and it will be on the road again in a week.
