Due to the impending purchase of a Metro (don't ask) and lack of parking space the time has arrived to sell my 340.
It was registered in August 1991 and supplied by Bells of Northampton who have also carried-out all servicing to date. The car has covered 44000 miles which is supported by a book full of service stamps. Bells carried-out a good quality welded repair to the offside rear sill for the last MOT and I have just carried-out a similar repair to the nearside. Otherwise the car seems extremely sound except for the usual 'frilliness' to the lower front panel, most of which is hidden by the number plate and therefore not too obvious.
The car is a GL and includes a rev counter, time clock, electric front windows, central locking, electric offside mirror (nearside has been replaced with a manual), heated seats, top tint windscreen etc etc. The car has never been smoked-in and the cigar lighter and ashtrays are unused.
New CVT belts and centrifugal clutch have been fitted within the last 3000 miles together with front brake pads, nearside steering rack gaiter and four brand new tyres (the spare wheel appears unused and is still fitted with the original Michelin tyre). The car is booked for its MOT test on Tuesday July 14th and should easily pass unless I've missed anything (but I don't think so). A new exhaust system (rear of the catalytic converter) was fitted just before I bought the car in January. The tax disc expires at the end of July.
Cosmetically, the car is in good condition. The lower front panel needs a bit of tidying and there is a slight crease to the rear bumper. Also, some passing yob decided to scratch the offside rear door but this isn't too deep and should respond to touching-in followed by flatting and polishing. All panels are straight and the dark metallic blue paintwork is good apart from some (very) minor marks caused by bird droppings. The interior is extremely tidy with no apparent wear or damage. Genuine Volvo floortrays are fitted to all four footwells, the tailgate struts are extremely strong, both sets of keys are available (including the original torch key), the original handbook pack is in the glovebox together with the all important and very complete main dealer service history.
All in all, this is an extremely nice Vario which would benefit from a weekends work to tidy-up the front panel and offside rear door. The car drives perfectly and I am unaware of any imminent mechanical repairs. Due to the CVT belts and clutch having recently been replaced (and the belts just re-adjusted), the transmission operates perfectly across the entire range. The engine is dry with no significant leaks and no evidence of burning oil. The coolant level remains constant with no evidence of leaks.
The car is located in the West Midlands and can be collected from my place of work next door to Birmingham International Airport. In view of the overall condition of the car, the low mileage, full service history, work recently carried-out, full MOT certificate (but short road tax) I reckon its worth about £500. I'll try it on here before listing it on Ebay so if anyone's interested send me a message or call me on 07732 054569 for further information.
Thanks for reading. Pictures are available at the link below although I'll try and get some better quality images at the weekend.

Re: 340 GL Auto, 1991 J Reg, 44000 miles, full dealer history
The car passed the MOT yesterday with no repairs other than adjustment of the carb to bring down the emissions. The MOT tester did however ask me to tidy-up the worst of the rust on the lower front valance to remove any sharp edges which I've done with a bit of fibre glass. Its presentable but if I was keeping the car I'd probably think about cutting-out the rust and welding-in some new metal. Anyhow, the car is extremely clean and tidy and now has an MOT certificate until July 27th 2010 although it will need taxing in a couple of weeks time. The first person to cross my palm with £475 can drive it away which is an absolute bargain when you take into account the new cvt belts, clutch, four tyres, front brake pads and a steering rack gaiter which have all been fitted within the last 3000 miles, plus the very full service history with all work carried-out by the supplying dealer, original sticker in the rear screen, all keys including the original torch key and supplying dealer keyring and original number plates with supplying dealer logo etc etc. Go on, you know you want to....

Following unrivalled demand and unprecedented interest the Vario is now taking-up new ownership in Barnsley. I've received a deposit from the purchaser and the car will be heading Norf on Saturday.
This means I'm now Volvo-less but I intend to keep a close eye on you lot from the cosy confines of my Metro....
