I think the general feeling is that there is no harm in letting members knowof up coming items on ebay , not every one has the time to keep scouring the auctions daily ( unlike myself ) and it would be a shame for members to miss out on decent cars and parts when they come up, there was a gentlemans agreement not to outbid each other but that has been broken by some members as well

I disagree with the eBay rule myself..I mean, we're a community of 300 lovers..it's only right that we should let each other know about the happenings 300-wise on eBay. More chance of the cars going to enthusiasts too!

I can see both sides of this one, as if someone spots something nice and rare, that may be badly listed, chances are they'll get it cheap and be one of the only people who want it to spot it, unless everyone see's it posted on a forum. In which case several people may be interested and arguements start. However, as Tom and Mick quite rightly point out, we'd all rather these cars were appreciated and went to people who will use them, and preserve them, or do something useful with them, get the cars and parts on offer, instead of someone who may just use it as a cheap stop gap and scrap a decent car! Anyway, I personally don't see too much harm, as it's better the people who want the stuff know about it and the rule has been broken enough times that it has been accepted as being ok.

 cant think of anyone here who would scrap a half decent car LOL the other point to bear in mind is that us members can mention our auctions here anyway or even sell stuff on the forum so avoiding listing and final value fees, therefore most of the auctions mentioned here by non sellers will be from non members and if members stuck to the non outbidding agreement , we could pick up parts for next to nothing,

ebay rules

Post by brad360 » 07 Jun 2005 09:43 am

As far as I remember I have only mentioned things on australian ebay.

Does anyone have a problem with this? I can't possibly imagine than anything of interest to anyone in Europe will show up in Australia

The items have been more for curiosity than anything, eg. different wheels, high km example, a brochure.
