Bodykit production

Post by foggyjames » 26 Aug 2004 03:24 am

Right, I might be getting a 'mark 3' factory bodykit at some point fairly soon.....so will anyone pay me to make copies? I'd hope it would work out at less than £150 per kit (new, perfect, incl shipping inside the UK), just as a guide. Having said that, I want to keep the price up and the quantity down to retain some exclusivity - some of us have worked very hard to get this far!!

cheers

James

Edit: Oh yeah, 400 posts baby! I'm still eating the dust of two very talkative moderators...

How difficult is it James? I'd most likely be up for it (well, if the loan is happy, I'll definately be up for it!)

How did you come to that price?? (just curious, I'm wanting to rebuild my front valance you see ;))

Pretty hard I guess...and very VERY time consuming. That price would be for materials and a *bit* of beer money. There's a good reason they cost £800 normally...

Thats what I thought, surely moulds alone would be more? But yeah, if you can do it, I'll do everything possible to join in, even if it has to stay in the garage til I can get it sprayed!

Well I'm not getting the original any more, so its off for now. However, I will be taking moulds of the parts I have so far (one skirt, rear valance, and an old-style front valance).

cheers

The mould is another fibreglass structure....so no.

Archie always had first dibs on the car, but he dissapeared for a week or so, so it was looking a bit like I might have a chance. Never mind, it was a long shot anyway! He's one of my Turbobricks chums, so me might let me take a mould of the two 'missing' bits of bodykit. I believe he's currently building a 360T, and Al's car will be his DD.

cheers
