Hi Tom,

They're not Volvo ones, but you can remove the ends to fit the boot switch. As per usual, you need to extend the 'shank' on the switch a little (with some rubber hose), or the boot light doesn't go out.

I only seem to have one type...and on my 343 (no spoiler), they'll take the tailgate out of your hand if you're not careful...so I think they're the "with spoiler" type.

Oh...I've got some centre caps. I've got one out of its wheel so far, but the other are still on the car. Are you in a desperate hurry for them, as removing the wheels would be surprisingly inconvenient. You'll get them, of course...and the car is due to go within the month...

cheers

OK, that sounds fine. Just give me a day or so first to check whether the two used spare ones I have still have any life left in them. I'll get back to you ...

I didn't quite get that, but I'm sure I'll understand what you mean when I take one apart ;-) So far I haven't attempted the "switch transfer" job, so far I've only been replacing the one side ;-)

That's fine, no rush with the caps. I won't be fitting the wheels any time soon, certainly not in the snowy weather we've got ATM. Had some nice mild drifting practice on the way to work this morning ;-)

Regarding the switch...the 'body' of the strut isn't quite as long on the aftermarket ones, so the switch doesn't make contact...hence the light doesn't go out. You need to lengthen the switch 'shank', or pad out the body of the strut (length-wise)....make sense?

cheers

OK I get it now ... It'd be good to replace the long stick I have in the 343 ATM ;-) One new strut wasn't enough, the lid still clangs down.

I'll get back to you, James.

Not any time soon...probably later in the year. I can probably get smaller (especially not external) parts up front. I'm sure I can deliver stuff to Jeff for onward distribution ;)

Well, it took me longer than a day or two, but the used ones I have work fine, so I won't be needing any for now. Just can't seem to screw the ball joint off the original LH one which is a bit of a pain :-(

In other news...my 1979 car has a feature I've not seen before. It appears to pass the current for the demister through the strut itself...which has plastic ends to insulate it from ground (i.e. the car body). Weird...

cheers
