When did you last see a cavlier GSi on the road? They (and calibras)'ve all been plundered of their XEs for nova/corsa/manta/astravan/caterham/westfield/ owt you like.

True. Didn't the Daewoo Espero also feature an XE? If so...that seems like a more fitting donor...

Think it was some sort of ecotec. I know a few peeps have put XEs in that Daewoo that was a mk2 astra.

Looks like you're right. A mate mentioned XEs being factory fitment in early Daewoos (the Cav and Astra based ones), so I only skim read the Wikipedia lie-fest

I guess he was getting XEs and Ecotecs mixed up.

Yeah they're much the same engine but the XE was killed off in late 93. The ecotecs are much the same, but with restrictive management and money skimped on parts. Still make damn good power on a set of carbs though, and available RWD-ready in scrapped omegas everywhere.
