Ok then :D

Well if we said Oxford, Oxford train station (or near) would be best for me as I will be travelling by train. At the earliest I could do Thursday or Friday evening, but Sunday would be my preference. If you'd prefer to discuss this by email, my email address is drhbanger@hotmail.com
Thanks,

Steve

haha.. don't do that to me, I got absolutely ripped off with a train ticket to Oxford yesterday!

Yeah, I'll be there at the meet as long as everything goes smoothly on Sunday, can't see a problem :) I'll be passing Gaydon on the way back home on Sunday too, so I'll know exactly where it is! It'll be good to see a few other 300s, theres not many about now. A student at my uni has a red 3 door 340, with 480 5 spokes, mesh grille, etc.. need to get hold of 'em to tell them about V3M if they don't know already!

By the way them Cetus rims are very nice too, need to save up a bit before spending 200 quid on a set of wheels and tyres though! Depends on how much I sell my Skoda for :)

Well...that's a worst case 'i could get them tomorrow' scenario. You ought to be able to get a set of four with usable tyres for under £100. Having said that, bear in mine that 185/55/15 tyres cost £50ish a corner for decent ones. It's the only thing in contact with the road, so why compromise.

Sure as hell get that student to join up...as long as they don't have my Canis rims. As one of the moderators I bar anyone from copying me! Also, I am the only person allowed to have a silver car, or to be called James. Me?! Abusing my position?! ;)

cheers

Will 195/50/15s not fit? From my Pug experiences they're much cheaper and more or less the same rolling radius.

 Abusing your moderators position, ofcourse not! :P

Nah they're the old style 440/480 5 spokes, with the square edges.. 14" I think. But the student must rather like it to do a few mods to it, also the parcelshelf was half folded back showing a bootfull of subwoofer! Looks like it has a dash mounted pod rev counter too. If I don't see the owner about I'll have to leave the URL of V3M on a piece of paper under their wiper or something :)

This forum has gota have the coolest selection of smilies on here!

I think 195 tyres scrub on full lock, as apposed to 185s

I'm sure 195/50s would fit fine, but 185/55/15 is a damn common size, and its also the right size for the 440, so buy 440 rims and they'll almost certainly have the right tyres on it.

I brought my tyres from www.mytyres.co.uk, which were excellent on price, and they show a £20 difference per tyre between the 2 sizes (for a Pirelli P6000). Quite a big saving! Useful to know if you did buy a set without tyres/needing new ones!

Thats the reason you'll find most 309/205 GTis will have 195/50s instead of the standard 185/55s. May be the same situation with some 400 wheels.

Cheers Carl, That site is pretty good, theres a big difference in price between the 185/55s and 195/50s.

Infact 195/50s have an average price of about £32, which is pretty damn good! Think I'll look out for a set of used Volvo alloys with tyres, unless I see some very cheap alloys without...

Happy to help!

There's a set of Volvo 400 alloys in a scrapyard just up the road from me in Botley, Southampton. They've got them on display in the main entrance (its a massive, professional scrapyard). I cant remember the style or the price (not much help i know!) but if you wanted to give them a call i'd be happy to get them for you today and chuck em in the boot. Its called Silverlake. http://www.silverlakeautoparts.co.uk
