i think yer wrong james. the '84 cars had a gl and a gle and a gls, and the saloon was available as a gle AND a gls, the gls being higher. the 86 was available as a gl and a glt and a gle, so surely there was a gl in 85?

There was probably a transition period, but the early line-up was as I described. I'm 100% on the GL (at least eventually) replacing the GLS. Interestingly, the 360 GLE remained a saloon-only model in Europe to the end...

The gold GLS has gone.. I went for a look today. That means it was actually sold in only 5 days.. very quick for the price it was up for and its age, although looking at the place it seemed likely to be the most 'honest' car there.

True, in Europe the 360 GLE was ALWAYS a saloon with the B200E engine, that was the most luxury car of the range with standard electrical windows...
