Presale of EMV overhaul kit

I would hereby like to launch the presale of the EMV overhaul kit.

As well known amongst the CVT driving members the rubber cups tend to break after a while, forcing you to replace the EMV with another one as Volvo only ever sold complete units.
As even these complete units are fast becoming obsolete one sometimes is forced to canibalize other units in order to keep ones vehicle on the road.

Presale price will be 18 euro (including postage within the "Schengen" zone). This offer ends 20th Jan 2011 and the kits will be posted during the second half of Feb 2011.

The kit contains only new parts and a clear manual makes sure the work is not complicated to do yourself.

Disclaimer: Orders with destination Italy and African states are refused for now due to a non-reliable postal service.

Bad time to post this in some ways with the Christmas holiday round the corner.

I'll try and remember to look back at this when I get back on the 5th.

RJ, Can you clear up this postal destination business once and for all?

You kindly sent me the door handle seals to Ireland, and when queried, you said it was because it was "Schengen" zone and the UK was not. Like the UK, Ireland is not part of the Schengen area, hence why I was confused. However, I did notice it arrived by TNTPost NL, and was probably sent by "International Parcel Basic" which covers destinations EU1+EU2. Boxes heavier than 2kg would go by "International Parcel Plus" and this is where the destinations would be split into EU1 and EU2. UK postage would be the exactly the same as Ireland, Germany or France for parcels under 2kg, and UK postage would actually be cheaper for the UK between 2kg-20kg on that service, than some "Schengen" zone countries.

In short, it costs the same to post the UK as some "Schengen" zone countries (or even cheaper), so why is a destination excluded from the offer?

Perhaps it's just lost in translation, but it might be better to remove the "Schengen" zone things and say EU1 with the list below.

So, what do you exactly mean by "Schengen" zone?
Do you mean: Austria, Belgium, Czech Rep, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland?

Or do you mean TNTPost zones?
International Parcel Basic, Europe (EU1+EU2) for up to 2kg.
International Parcel Plus, EU1 or EU2 or ROW 1 for up to 20kg.

EU1: Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark (excl. Faroe Islands and Greenland), Germany, France (incl. Corsica and Monaco), Italy (excl San Marino and Vatican City), Austria, Spain (incl. Balearics, excl. Canary Islands), United Kingdom (excluding Gibraltar and Channel Islands), Sweden.
EU2:Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Poland, Portugal (incl. Azores and Madeira), Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic.
ROW1: Canary Islands, Channel Islands, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Iceland, Malta, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland and Vatican City

Given that UK banks charge (excessively) for bank transfers in Euro (anywhere between £8 and £25+), I'm more than willing to assist UK buyers wishing to make purchase(s) of the above items with Euro payments.

PM me for details, as I don't really want to carry to much risk fixing prices in GBP when the exchange rate can be all over the place!

I'll have to look back and see what is in the kit again.

Given that a number of DAF owners run similar EMVs and the single-solenoid EMVs, would the mushrooms (rubber cups) be available in quantities?

The rubber cups are not available seperately but I would think as a single overhaul kit contains 2 O-rings, 2 cups, a diode and an extensive manual, one could also tackle the DAf units.

I have allready presold several kits to DAF owners.

Have you spoken to the DAF club in the UK? I have contacts there...but I guess you do too?

I haven't but as soon as they are delivered I shall be advertising them so that they can find it as well.

Foggy: I thought you were coming round on the 27th of last month to pick up all the goodies you wanted...

We did pass through Belgium, but there were a few complications...mainly with the car breaking down! I suspect I'll be back later in the summer, and if I feel it's urgent, I guess I can always pay for some postage.

I don't think these kits will be a huge seller here, as there aren't that many variomatics...but it's a very useful part to have available. While I'm thinking about it, the DAF Owners Club here in the UK have had a batch of variomatic drive belts made up, if that's of any interest to your contacts in Europe?

cheers

James

I am looking on coming over for the BKV in June.
I suspect that you'll be there as well????

Sorry...missed this somehow.

Yes, I should be there! My blue 343 now has fresh paint, so I hope it will be there. The job isn't perfect, but I'm pretty happy with it :)

cheers

The overhaul kit is now for sale as a regular item.
By the looks of it I suspect a lot of people are overhauling their EMV.

Good to hear they're in demand. There don't seem to be that many varios left here :( I've now had 3 mk1s (although I think you'd call them mk2s :)), and all three of those have even been manuals...

cheers

James
