Mac is "rationalising" - I really don't have room for three cars on the drive. The 300 stays (of course), the Fraud S40 is getting traded, and "Barge" reluctantly will
have to find a new home. (a replacement for Barge and the S40 is on order for January delivery).

Barge + shed load of spares available from mid Jan.
940 S 2.3 LPT Estate 140,000 ish mls (38 something I think)
Has been and still is a superb workhorse.
for whatever an old 940 is worth - not much I suspect.
I will only pass on to someone in the Volvo "community".

Pic taken about 3 months ago at a VOC section meet.

Picture flatters - there are battle scars.

If any interest PM me.

Oh Christ, you're not getting one of those XC60 things are you? I thought you had more sense than succumb to the current trend of style over substance. If you do need something with a raised seating position due to failing knees etc then at least get an XC90 V8......

Nooo not an XC60 - was nearly sick in my mouth when I first saw one :P

Barge has found a new home! She will be moving north in January.!!

Oh!, Rupert and Steve - such concern over my mental health - wherever did you get the idea I was getting an XC60 from (me probably).

We did indeed BRIEFLY look at a 60 but in the end we found it to be a very expensive example of "style over substance" and have instead gone all traditional
and gone for a very expensive estate.

On order for Jan delivery is an XC70 SE Lux AWD, 2.4D (the "old" D5) Flamenco Red with Grey leather/Walnut trim, with all the toys.

Not in the Mercedes/fake German number plate league of course - but sufficient for such (now) impoverished creatures such as Debs and Myself!

By the way Rupert - Barker is still persisting with his 60 but delivery has just gone from mid Nov to "haven't a clue - the UK has used this years quota" - not a happy bunny!
also Roo Debs says Hi and all the best to Moira.

Mac was a bearded old fart - now he's a pissed off old fart.

"Barge" will not now be moving north - having agreed the deal it seems like something more interesting has come along,
so if anyone else is interested let me know.

What you would get:-

1995 940S 2.3 LPT Estate M90 Manual 5spd.
Tax end of July 2012, MOT mid March 2012.
142700mls.
Purchased by me 19/03/2003
Non Volvo aircon (fitted by second owner when car two years old) n/w at present
Glovebox lock n/w
Everything else works.
Full service history (by Mac from 113000) Huge history file.
No corrosion but plenty of small chips and scars the worse being scrapes on the front edge of the bonnet.
Fitted with voltmeter and boost gauge, power panel in load area.
At 132500mls:- (May 2007)by me.

X5 new Avon ZT5s (now have about 3500mls - spare unused).
12/05/2010:-

Throttle body clean,
All vac and emission hoses replaced,
June 2011:-

aircon /heater control fitted with new vac control, new front wishbones, new front brake
dust shields, susp bits and lots more.

More details or photos - just ask.
I have over the years spent probably 6 or 7 times its worth (but for me Volvo ownership is not a financial decision)
However - being realistic I would like to see £500 for the old lady

Probably forgotten a lot but this gives you a reasonable idea of "Barge

Pix - here we go:- All taken Oct.29th., not washed, not cleaned out, what you see is what you get.

Tailgate badges were removed to cure some aluminium blistering. Have got new "Volvo" and "940" badges but have not been able to get "S" or "2.3"

Yeah, really sorry about that.
And I hadn't even named you!

No worries mate, it's hardly a life changing problem - It's just a nice change to be pissed at somebody else - I'm usually pissed at the weather, the neighbours, the cat, the wife (and she hits back!).
Good luck with your new toy.

I'm still pissed though - Mac.

Hmm... pondering... will have to see if I can persuade Cardwell to buy my car :P

Is it the pictures or is there a lack of coolant in the reservoir?

Depending how the Corsa goes over the next few days I have been tempted for Barge myself (as Mac knows)

I'm secretly hoping the Corsa stays tbh, having a car I hate working on and driving is good for my 300 soul, but I would like a big brick

It does look a little low in the pic. and I confess I have not topped it up since I last changed the water pump in June.

Stone cold the level is thus:-

Image

Once up to temp the level is almost at the seam.

So yes it looks low - but no it's not.

Mac.

PS it's a 16 year old banger and it's got a scratch on the drivers door as well!

Certainly doesn't look like one :) Plus all the work you've done on it will be a lot of piece of mind for the new owner. If I can tempt someone by my current car I'll be back :)

Well. barge is now living on the road - I've had everything from "I'm mildly interested" to "I'll definitely have it" and all between
but at the end of the day nobody has even been to see the old lady at any price.

I'll try once more to drum up some interest but if not I shall throw a tantrum and give her a viking burial. She's far too good to
scrap but I just don't have the space or time to break or store her.

Replacement now settled in (on winter tyres) - "summer 18s" in store.
