I quite like it. Gold cars were all the rage in the 80s. Gold porkas, gold granada ghias, there was gold as far as the eye could see.
:D
Didnt last mind.
And maybe that was for the best.

I agree :-) Gold / bronze might look crap on a 2009 car (there's a Merc A-class round my way which looks appalling in gold), but it's a true 80's-tastic colour which looks fine on a car from that period IMO. Granadas are a good example, Cortinas too ... Especially with tinted brown windows.

You wouldn't fit rear window louvres these days either, but on a V300... Why not? 340pw

Mmh, yeah. Complete with brown sweaty vinyl seats and a brown dash. But isn't that a bit more 70's?

Actually, yeah youre absolutley right. Im mixing my decades.
80s gold was all porsches and mercs. presumably to ensnare the yuppies and 'suddenly wealthy'.
They were easily tempted by shiny things.

So what's typically 90s then? The changeover from chunky dashboards to swoopy ones? Bloated airbag steering wheels? Digital odometers? Odd greens (VW Polo) and yellows (Seat Ibiza)? Never really thought about that decade much up to now. I can't really think of any weird trends which will make people smile in twenty years' time ...

I dunno. Theres nothing that really stands out.
The naughties was def the decade of the NEW car.
New beetle
New mini
New fait 500
New charger
New mustang
New Talbot Alpine.

Ok, i made that last one up, but it was diffinatly a trend.

The nineties though. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Im stuck.

FWD rubbish? And barry bodykits. Though late 80's/early 90's was take silly small car and make silly powerful, so that is probably what should be remembered. And dimma kits.

Wasnt the nineties when the whole 'retro car' scene really gatherered pace?

Presumably because nothing else was going on............................................

Well funnily I like the gold colour on Mk1's a nd Mk2's but I think the Mk3 is just a bit too new to suit that colour :)

Was it the 90s when body coloured moulded bumpers became more widespread? Costly to replace and collect parking scrapes too easily which defeats the object of a bumper as low impact protection IMO, so I'm not a fan. And the death of the carb in production motors was something to lament :(

I like the gold of that 360. My dad had a gold Renault 18 estate in the 80s as a company car, with softly sprung beige fabric seats, first car I ever drove at the tender age of 13!

It was superb, loved it. Until it was rear ended into a tree by an Anglian Windows van :(
